What is almond allergy?

Generally, dietitians suggestaddingnuts in your diet for nutrients that other foods cannot provide. But over consumption of these may negatively affect your body. Too much consumption of nuts may result in various kinds of allergies. And here we are talking about almondallergy.
Almonds belong to the Rosaceae family which includes cherries, plums, apricots, peaches under the genus Prunus along with almonds. Around 430 species belong to this genus with its members being widely cultivated for the fruit. These fruits from this genus is commonly called stone fruit.
Very rare cases of almond allergy have come up till now. Some people are born allergic to almonds therefore for them consumption of almonds may end up severely. Almond allergy can be like other nut allergies in the form of irritation or itching in the mouth, itching on the skin, hives, nausea, etc. It may also cause serious problem like anaphylaxis which is a serious reaction mostly caused by allergy from nuts. Pure raw almonds directly from the plant may cause salmonella which is a kind of food poisoning.

The allergic reaction may occur within few minutes or it may take a few hours. People who are allergic to one kind of nut may develop allergy for another nut. Therefore, it is at times suggested to avoid other nuts as it may cause cross-reactivity.
